Welcome Chorus is an art project by Yuri Suzuki and Margate Social Singing choir. Using AI, the project consolidated the voices of 1000 people into a new choir song celebrating Margate. The project was commissioned for the Turner Prize exhibition at Turner Contemporary in 2019. During the exhibition, the AI generated around 1000-2000 songs, and 5 of the most significant pieces were selected to create an album. The album features artificial voices generated by the AI and reconstructed by Margate Social Singing choir. The artwork was designed by Matt Wiley. The project will have a launch event on April 29 in Margate, which will be live-broadcasted on @margateradio and @elsewhere. You can join in-person or tune in to listen to the live broadcast.
