Kay Nova Now this is the album I've been waiting for. The electronic works of Raymond Scott is some of my favorite music of all time. So when I heard that someone had taken the time to digitally recreate the Electronium and make music with it inspired by his works, I was very excited. This album hits the same feelings I get when listening to Scott's electronic works. It's nostalgic, curious, eerie yet also charming, and overall very unique. This one will be on repeat for a while!

about

Conceived by Raymond Scott - an American bandleader and legendary director of Motown's Electronic Search and Development department, the Electronium is described as an instantaneous performance-composition machine. A very early example of A.I. the original machine was able to intelligently generate music by responding to sequenced melodic phrases.
Pentagram's Yuri Suzuki and creative studio Counterpoint have reimagined this iconic musical instrument using modern technology. Even though the original idea is from 1959, the team’s hope is that by bringing the Electronium back to life, they can show how intelligent technology can be a important building block of culture.
Across the 11 compositions on ‘Scott’s Dream’, Suzuki shows a mastery of the instrument, engaging in a dialogue between man and machine. Suzuki coaxes a range of sounds from the Electronium; moving from calm electronic counterpoint to more introspective and darker timbres.
The tape release of Scott’s Dream will be release on Bandcamp, September 10th, all proceeds will be going to charity.
Artwork for the tape and poster design have been generously designed by Astrid Stavro and team.
